Boom Hitch Knot Tying
Wrap turn one around the boom to one side and turn two around the boom towards the other side. Wrap turn three towards the original side but on top of the first turn. Finally wrap turn four outside and then under, turn two. Tie an Overhand Knot in the tail and tighten the knot.

Boom Hitch Knot Details
Description: The "Decorative Hitch" described by Ashley (ABOK # 1687, p 292) is now called the Boom Hitch. It requires a single tuck and an Overhand Knot and the result is a neat attractive knot.
Tying the Boom Hitch: It is one of the simplest knots to tie as each turn merely wraps on top of the previous turns. It should, however, be tightened carefully because on both sides it is possible to disturb the sequence of the wraps.
Uses: The Boom Hitch tolerates tension at right angles to the boom and, depending somewhat on the finish on the boom and the type of rope, will also resist a longitudinal pull in either direction.
