Ashley Bend: The Ashley Bend is tied using two interlocking overhand knots. It provides a secure method of joining two ropes together.

This section includes knots that were not essential in some other category. For example the new Gnat hitch has not yet found a place as a trusted knot in any category. The much older Cow Hitch is much better known bacause of its similarity to the Clove Hitch – but is also not regarded as essential elsewhere.
